In October 2024, a passionate C4H team travelled from the UK to Accra for our first-ever deployment to Ghana—a journey that left a deep and lasting impact on everyone involved. Stepping into communities we had previously only seen through reports and videos, the team witnessed the true value of our fundraising efforts. Distributing food packs, serving hot meals, and supporting clean water solutions allowed us to reach families who face daily struggles just to access basic necessities. For many, these essentials were not just aid—they were hope.
Beyond distributions, the team embraced the opportunity to serve with their own hands. We helped paint and clean several local mosques, working side-by-side with community members and witnessing their gratitude and resilience. These simple acts of service strengthened our connection to the people and reminded us that charity is not only about giving resources, but also giving time, compassion, and dignity.
A defining moment of the trip was attending the opening of One Nation’s largest masjid in Africa—an incredible achievement that will serve thousands for generations. We also had the honour of seeing One Nation’s first orphanage in Ghana, a place that will provide safety, education, and love to children who have no one else to rely on. Standing there, our team saw clearly how sustained fundraising and collective effort can build institutions that change entire communities.
The visit also brought us face-to-face with the harsh realities of poverty in Ghana. Families living without clean water, children unable to attend school, and communities struggling with rising food costs—these are challenges that cannot be ignored. Experiencing this firsthand reaffirmed the importance of travelling into the field. Seeing the needs with our own eyes and delivering aid directly builds a deeper sense of responsibility within our team, and it also strengthens the confidence of our donors, who trust us to ensure their contributions reach those who need them most.
This deployment was more than a trip—it was a reminder of why C4H exists. It deepened our empathy, strengthened our mission, and reinforced our commitment to uplifting communities through meaningful, lasting change. Each visit inspires us to work harder, raise more, and continue being a bridge of hope between donors and the people whose lives they touch.
Providing a sewing machine to people living in poverty enables them to earn a sustainable income by offering tailoring, repairs, and small-scale clothing production within their communities. This low-cost tool creates opportunities for self-employment, particularly for women, allowing them to work from home, reduce reliance on aid, and support their families through regular earnings.
One Nation, a registered UK charity, delivers this support through its income-generating projects by identifying vulnerable individuals in need and providing them with sewing machines to start or expand small businesses. This approach promotes long-term self-reliance, dignity, and economic stability rather than short-term relief.

Our team distributed Food Packs on the ground during the deployment across several communities where families were struggling.
Read MoreChildren sometimes have to carry their school books, packed lunch and other essential items to school with their hands full or sometimes have to go without. Quite often carrying books by hand leads to them being open to the elements and also the children themselves getting tired. A school bag will help a child carry their school belongings safely and securely, and avoiding tiredness. For many this is an item that parents simply cannot afford for their children. Our team delivered School Bags on the ground during the deployment across several villages and schools where children had an urgent need.
